So Kas, what made you want to create a selection of soap and shampoo bars?

The short answer is that I just loved using bar soap and saw a gap in the market for high quality bar soap at an accessible price. I knew that none of my 20-something friends used soap bars, so I decided to try and make soap bars cool again. And I think I’ve managed that!

When it comes to the shampoo bars, I just HAD to developthem. There simply were no half decent shampoo bars around.Like, at all. At least not for someone who was used to spending £20+ on bottled shampoo. My scalp is a super snob and flakes at anything, so that's why our shampoo bars had to be of the highest quality.

If you were one of your own bars, which one would you be and why? 

 I would probably be the Mango soap bar, because I'm absolutely of the opinion that I belong in a tropical climate!Oh, and cos it's my all-time FAVE scent ever. 

How do you manage to juggle all aspects of your business as a one-woman band?

It's been one hell of a S-T-R-U-G-G-L-E. From send-outs, to marketing, to customer service, to sales - the full lot was managed by just me over the first two years.

I'm now so thankful to say that I'm no longer alone and the nuddy team has grown! It's a good job, otherwise the whole thing would be a complete shambles by this point... 

Why do you think it’s important for people to start using bar soap? 

The obvious answer - you're doing your bit for the environment.

In my opinion, it's one of the easiest switches to make, ditching the plastic and switching to soap. I wanted to make sure that people don't feel like they're compromising on quality by switching. That's why our soaps are the most premium quality you could possibly find. They're triple milled and laced with raw shea butter. Creamy and delicious!

We've genuinely never had a single soul report back saying they didn't love using our soap bars - that's a fact.

 Who do you think would be the perfect celebrity ambassador for nuddy?

Chrissy Teigan or Maya Jama – FOR SURE.

I just adore them both. They are both unapologetically themselves, funny, vivacious, independent and empowered women. I love that, that's what we stand for, that's what we want to try and empower every woman to feel like when #inthenuddy and every other second of the day, for that matter.  

What 3 pieces of advice would you give to people who want to launch a start-up?

JUST

DO

IT. 

Jokes. It is tough though, so don't head into it lightly. It's not an easy journey, that's for sure. But if you believe in your product or service so much so that it genuinely keeps you up at night because you're so enthused and excited, then, JUMP. Take the risk, because you'll regret it forver if you don't try.Also, save save save. Don't spend any money, even when you see it starting to come in, you'll need every penny, believe me. 

Where do you see the future of sustainable skincare heading?

There's got to be much less plastic. Fun new sustainable materials. I genuinely think that from here on out we just need to mix it up in terms of packaging.  

Stop abusing one material i.e. plastic. If specific industries used a real range of alternative packaging and ingredients, we wouldn’t have to deal with mass devastation of one specific thing.  

What’s the plans for nuddy in the future and when can we expect new products?

Well I can’t spill ALL the goss, but we have big things coming…

The launch of our first shampoo bar went crazy, and you’ll be glad to know that we’ve got a new scent about to drop.

Finally, if you could get in the nuddy with anyone (literally anyone, dead or alive) who would it be?

Hahaha. I'd be on a beach at night in Indonesia running into the water #inthenuddy with my best girlfriends, swimming in sparkling plankton under the moonlight.

Why? Because no one makes me feel more empowered than they do, clothes or no clothes!
