World Chocolate Day: Our Favourite Vegan Chocolate Brands.
Today is a VERY exciting day- it's World Chocolate Day!!! If like us you can't get enough of the sweet stuff, you'll undoubtedly be thrilled that there is a whole day dedicated to chocolate. Plus, the unwritten rule of today is that you can eat as much of it as you like- obviously.
Now, we're sure that you'd be able to name at least twenty of your favourite chocolate bars in about 30 seconds- but what about dairy free options? Years ago, vegan chocolate was rare, and any existing bars had the reputation of being pretty, well, gross. But don't worry, the vegan choc game has well and truly changed and we are here to steer you in the direction of our FAVE brands that will satisfy your sweet cravings. Whether you have ditched the dairy for good, or you want to branch out and try a more planet and animal friendly option, we've got you covered.
Founded by Meg Chapman back in 2014, Raw Halo was inspired by Meg's mission to reduce sugar in her diet. Her brand creates organic raw chocolate from ethically-sourced, plant-based ingredients. Plus, their packaging is 100% plastic free, sustainable and recycle and they even plant a tree for every 50 bars sold- how amazing is that? Oh, and their chocolate is DIVINE.
Okay, so we are totally obsessed with Vive here at nuddy. The East London based brand are keen to 'make nature taste naughty' by creating healthier snacks that don't compromise on flavour. From brownies, to protein bars, their range is high in plant protein, full of fibre and gluten free- plus, totally vegan, of course. Who knew being healthy could taste so good?
Dubbed the UK's no. 1 Vegan and Free From Chocolate Brand, Nomo are kind of a big deal in the chocolate world. Their plan was to create chocolate that meant vegan eaters didn't have to miss out when it came to enjoying chocolate- and it's safe to say that they've succeeded. These wonderful bars are now widely available in many supermarkets and they have a whole range of different flavours- you just have to check them out.
HiP creates incredible oat milk based chocolate that will satisfy all of your cravings. Not only is the brand vegan, it is sustainable and ethically produced- plus, it tastes AMAZING. With flavours like salted caramel, salty pretzel and cookies no cream, you're guaranteed to find something that you love. Also, bonus points for the gorgeous packaging, HiP.
Love Raw was founded back in 2013 with the aim to make vegan chocolate that actually tastes as nice as 'real' chocolate. Rather than restricitng themselves to a vegan only audience, founders Rimi and Manar, are keen to stress that this chocolate is for anyone- vegan or not. We are obsessed with their cre&m wafers- think Kinder Buenos but better for you and the planet.
Inspired by founder Chris's experiences with food intolerances, Enjoy! is raw, organic, vegan and free from: dairy, gluten, soya, nuts and refined sugars- WOW. We were totally blown away by the huuuuge range on offer at Enjoy!- we're talking banoffee fudge, chocolate buttons, salted caramels and even drinking chocolate. The problem is, we just don't know which to tuck into first...
Happi creates allergen-free, oat milk chocolate that is lower in sugar and sustainably sourced and packaged. It is a pretty new brand that was founded in 2020 and ensured all chocolate is made minus the risk of child or slave labour- well done Happi. You can even get matching T-shirts to compliment your chocolate- what more could you want?
